With a new ERIK leader recently appointed, the success of Ohio State’s research and innovation enterprise in 2023 provides promise for an even more impressive 2024.

Nominations are being accepted until November 21 for the 2024 Distinguished Scholar and Early Career Distinguished Scholar Awards.

Korie Little Edwards, PhD, professor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences, has earned The Ohio State University 2023 Distinguished Scholar Award. “I just do what I’m excited about and what I’m passionate about,” said Edwards upon learning of her award.

Thomas Darrah, PhD, professor of earth sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, was named The Ohio State University 2023 Innovator of the Year during a reception hosted by the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge on Thursday, April 20.

Jeffrey Chalmers, PhD, professor of chemical engineering, has earned The Ohio State University 2023 Distinguished Scholar Award. "Thank you, this award is indicative of our department,” said Chalmers, “and the key is for us to strive to keep it that way and to keep the tradition going.”

Patricia Zettler, JD, associate professor of Law in the College of Law, has earned the 2023 Early Career Distinguished Scholar Award. “It’s a privilege to be your colleague,” said Zettler upon learning of her award. “It’s a joy to work at a place that has such tremendous support for our scholarship and interdisciplinary connections and that enables us to do impactful research.”

Matthew Sullivan, PhD, professor of microbiology in the College of Arts and Sciences with a joint appointment in the Department of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, has earned The Ohio State University 2023 Distinguished Scholar Award.

Mohit Randeria, PhD, professor of physics in the College of Arts and Sciences, has earned The Ohio State University 2023 Distinguished Scholar Award. ERIK senior leadership surprised Randeria with the honor at a recent virtual faculty meeting.  

Christin Burd, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics, College of Medicine, has earned The Ohio State University 2023 Early Career Distinguished Scholar Award.
