About this event

Biomanufacturing uses living organisms or biological components in manufacturing processes to create materials, products, or sustainable alternatives to existing petroleum-based materials. Biomanufacturing is becoming an increasingly important area of focus and research funding across federal agencies, particularly in light of the Biden Administration’s launch of a National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative in 2022 with more than $2 billion in funding allocated to advance biomanufacturing research, development, and infrastructure.

The Office of Knowledge Enterprise is sponsoring a Biomanufacturing Opportunities Workshop at Ohio State as part of broader efforts to enhance collaboration and grow fundamental and applied research in biomanufacturing at the university. This workshop will provide a forum to hear from thought leaders in academia, government, and industry who will share their perspectives on the future of biomanufacturing.

Please join us for this incredible opportunity to hear from and engage with leaders from the Air Force, Army, Department of Energy, NASA, National Science Foundation, as well as from thought leaders from the University of California Irvine, Battelle, Ohio Life Sciences and representatives from Ginkgo Bioworks, LanzaTech and BioMADE.
