William P. "Pat" Roach, chief scientist of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) will cover the AFOSR’s basic research mission, areas of interest and funding programs on Thursday, November 30 from 8:30 – 10 a.m. Hosted by the Office of Knowledge Enterprise, this in-person event open to faculty, staff and students will take place in 320 Pomerene Hall.
AFOSR selects, sponsors and manages research relevant to Air and Space Force science and technology needs and is the single manager for all Air and Space Force basic research programs. AFOSR has a staff of approximately 200, an annual working budget of nearly $500 million and supports more than 5,000 worldwide basic research projects critical to the defense of the U.S. As chief scientist, Roach is the principal science and technology adviser to the director in matters of formulation, planning, managing and integration of all Air and Space Force basic research programs.
