Talent and Team Development

The Knowledge Enterprise is building a continuum of programming to enable faculty to successfully pursue federal funding for research and creative expression by supporting early ideation, networking and teaming, as well as ongoing professional development.

Research Leadership Development and Support

The Talent and Team Development Office provides strategic support for individual faculty to develop as research leaders across their career. We offer programs that support early career faculty in applying for prestigious federally-funded programs and mid-career faculty in learning critical skills for leading multidisciplinary teams. We are also working to grow the number of Ohio State faculty elected as fellows to prestigious societies.

Interdisciplinary Team Development and Support

The Talent and Team Development Office team leads programming for goal-focused interdisciplinary teams through research networking events, seed funding, team formation initiatives, and team training using the science of team science that enhances their competitiveness for external funding. Once teams pursue large-scale federal funding opportunities, the Research Development Office works to support proposal preparation.

BIIG Collaborations

The Ohio State Office of Knowledge Enterprise (OKE) in collaboration with STEAM Factory is here to help you connect with other researchers! We are excited to present BIIG Connections @ STEAM Factory - a series of networking events held at the STEAM Factory’s Franklinton location that are aimed at breaking down traditional research silos, facilitating new connections, and launching your next BIIG Idea. Our Autumn 2022 events will focus on two broad themes – Biotechnology and STEM Education and Workforce Development.
Growing Research Opportunities (GRO)

The GRO initiative is designed to help position Ohio State for research excellence in new areas. Ideation Workshops help teams hone their ideas and develop strategies and action steps to pursue external funding. The GRO Academy is a leadership program designed to equip faculty will skills needed to lead complex, interdisciplinary collaborations in pursuit of external funding.

Faculty Fellows

Sathya Gopalakrishnan and Tina Henkin are working with faculty to, respectively, identify and develop ways to enhance the University’s support for interdisciplinary teams and to develop strategies to increase the number of faculty who are elected to the National Academies and the American Association for the Advancement of Science as part of OKE’s teaming and talent development programming.
